THE EID
SALAAT
The following are Masnoon on the day of Eid-ul-Adha.
- Awaken early in the morning.
- Perform Ghusl (Masnoon Bath) and Miswaak.
- Wear one's best clothes.
- Apply perfume (itr).
- Abstain from partaking of food before the Eid salaat
until the sacrificial meat is available.
- Recite the Takbeeraat audibly while going for the Eid
salaat.
- To go to the Eid salaat by one route and return by
another.
The Eid salaat consists of two rak'ahs. The only difference
is that it has three extra Takbeers in every rak'ah. In the
first rak'ah after reciting the Thana (Subhanakallahumma) and
before the Qiraa'ah, and in the second rak'ah after the
Qiraa'ah and before the ruku these Takbeeraat should be said:
While reciting these Takbeeraat, the hands should be lifted
till the ears. Procedure in the 1st rak'ah:
- Allah-u-Akbar - } tie hands-read Thana
- Allah-u-Akbar - } hands go up to the ear lobes and
then hands at side of
- Allah-u-Akbar - } body 4) Allah-u-Akbar - tie hands
- ]maam recites Qira'ah.
in the 2nd rak'ah:
- Imaam recites Qiraa'ah
- Allah-u-Akbar -} hands go up to the ear lobes and
then hands at side of
- Allah-u-Akbar -} body
- Allah-u-Akbar -}
- Allah-u-Akbar - go down for Ruku
It is Sunnah to listen to the Khutbah after the Eid salaat.
