THE OATH OF A MUSLIM BUSINESSMAN

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful, I render this oath in the name of Allah and I undertake:

  1. That all which constitutes true wealth, at any given moment is given by Allah and that I must selectively produce and selectively consume, to achieve real progress and development.
  2. To respect and safeguard the true value of other's goods and services, not to cheat, deceive or take possession of such values through theft or any act of force.
  3. Not to withhold goods and services from others, hoarding or monopolistic practices.
  4. To set aside a clearly defined portion of my excess goods and services produced after satisfying my basic needs. Zakaat, to be spent over the matters of the community welfare and share it with those who are temporarily or permanently unproductive.
  5. To act in submission to the Almighty, to make its free choice, and allow all others the free choice within the heavenly imposed limits and prohibitions.
  6. Not to squander wealth on false needs or falsely satisfying unremitting needs of others.
  7. That finally the success or failure of earthly endeavours remain the prerogative of the Almighty Alone, as both wealth and property are His to give or take.

As Allah is my Witness, May He grant the strength, Patience and dedication to adhere to this Oath at all times.
