The Fatwas given by Respected Ulama regarding
RIAZ AHMED GOHAR SHAHI (R.A.G.S.)

Muslims of South Africa!! Beware!! Once again Shaitaan has bared his ugly head in the form of Riyaz Ahmad Gohar Shahi. This impostor and pretender to be a true ashiq (lover) of Allah Jallah Jalaaluhu and Janaab-e-Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) is trying to gain the platform of our Masjids and honoured places so that he may fascinate and dazzle us by his declaration of being a lover of Allah Jalla Jalaaluhu. His Kufr beliefs are sugar-coated in the guise of fancy terms of Tasawwuf and Tazkiyah (spiritual purification) so as to fool the unwary masses.

Among his Kufr claims are the following:

He claims that he is able to directly implant the Isme Zaat (name of Allah) into the heart, making Salaat, Sawm, etc. unnecessary. In his book 'Roshnaas' page three, he writes that Salaat, Sawm, Haj and Zakaat are just temporary injunctions of Islaam. The Salaat which we perform is only the outer appearance. Actual Salaat emanates from the heart. On page 24, he claims that two Rakaats a day of this 'Salaat of the heart' is sufficient for ones salvation, whereas one may perform Salaat (as we presently perform it in the manner shown by Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) day and night, but will never gain forgiveness.

He even claims that his image is implanted on the moon. A conference was held on October 17 at Nashtar Pak (Pakistan) under the banner of being an 'Isme Zaat Allah' conference. One of the guest speakers from London made the following statement:

'When I go into Sajda in Salaat, then the image of Gohar Shahi comes in front of me. Even Allah has Ishq (love and devotion) for Gohar Shahi. Qiyaamat cannot occur until the masses do not develop 'Ishq' for Gohar Shahi'.

Furthermore, he claims that Hadhrat Khizar (RA) was involved in Bid'ah He also claims that Rabi'a Basri (RA) was involved in immorality.

Finally for those who are still not convinced, let us consider the declarations of the esteemed Ulama of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'a concerning Gohar Shahi.

The Imaam of Darul Uloom Ahmed Raza - Bharat in Madina Masjid Moosa, Qila Dar Istreet, Hansrot Baikila of Bombay Idara-shariyya has written:

'The bearer of such words and actions and his followers and supporters are under the anger of Allah Ta'ala and are befitting the punishment of the fire. He must be stopped from coming to the Masaajid of the Muslims and his gathering of Dhikr be banned'.

Darul Uloom Amjadiyya has written in their Fatwa:
'Gohar Shahi is a Faasiq and Faajir because of his friendship and association with those who do not make Salaat, who take intoxicants and flirt with immoral women After studying his Kitaab we know that the author Riyaz Gohar Shahi is a Jaahil and greatly deviated. He wants to create a new group to deviate Muslims. MUSLIMS SHOULD STAY FAR FROM HIM AND ABSTAIN FROM SITTING IN HIS COMPANY.'

Hadhrat Moulana Yusuf Ludhyaanwi Saheb of Khatme Nubuwwat has written concerning Gohar Shahi, 'This person has no value for Deen in him. Neither does he have regard for Salaat and fasting nor does he abstain from forbidden things. His position is similar to Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani and his followers are deviated.' (Bayyinaat)

Besides the above quoted Fataawas, Jamia Gowsiya; Madrasah Jalaaliyya Azizul Uloom, Darul Uloom Qadriyya Subhaniyyah; Darul Uloom Ahsanul Barakaat; Mufti Nizaamuddin Jamia Uloom Islaamiya Binnori town and Darul Ifta Darul Uloom Hamidiyyah Rizwiyya have issued Fatwas against the beliefs of Gohar Shahi and exposed his beliefs of Kufr.

Therefore the United Ulama Council of South Africa warns all Muslims to beware of this impostor and to distance themselves from his Kufr beliefs and that of his followers.
